I’m a filmmaker and cinematographer based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. In 2011 I started a production company called Kopstuk Film. As a cinematographer I work on films, documentaries, TV, corporate and commercial productions for multiple production companies, as a filmmaker I’m always working on new film projects of my own.
After highschool I spend two years working as a video-editor for different production companies before I started studying Journalism in Utrecht. During my studies I worked as a video-journalist (camjo) for different Dutch broadcasters including NOS and NCRV and spend half a year in San Francisco studying Political Science. In 2007 I made my first documentary, ‘Real Hip Hop is from Africa’. The film was awarded best student production School of Journalism Utrecht 2007. It was the most fun I ever had working on a production, and I decided to change my focus from the traditional news-journalism to film and documentary. In 2008 I completed a half a year intern-ship with Semat Production and Distribution in Cairo, Egypt, where I worked as a cinematographer on different documentary projects and learned to speak Arabic.
After working for a dynamic range of production companies I started my own company in 2011, Kopstuk Film. Since I’m working as a cinematographer on films, documentaries, TV series, corporate and commercial productions.
